Call Shot

When the game rules require the players to designate a certain pocket and/or a ball before shooting

Called Ball

The designated ball in a call shot game

Called Pocket

The designated pocket in a call shot game

Carom

When the cue ball bounces off one ball to an object ball or a cushion

Center Spot

The accurate center point of the playing surface of the table

Chalk

The powder put on the cue tip to prevent it from slipping when contacts the cue ball

Combination

When on a shot the cue ball first strikes a different ball than the one to be pocketed and the stroked ball hits one or more balls in an attempt to score

Cue

The wooden stick used to strike the cue ball in billiard games

Contact Point

The exact point of contact between the cue ball and the object ball

Cue Ball

The white ball stroked by the cue tip in pool games

Cue Ball in Hand

When the cue ball can be put anywhere on the table

Cue Ball in Hand behind the Head String

When the cue ball can be put on the table between the head string and the cushion on the head on of the table

Cue Tip

The leathery part of the cue; the only part of the cue allowed to contact the cue ball

Cushion

The cloth that covers the rubbery part in the inside of the rails on the billiard table

Cut Shot

When on a shot the cue ball hits the object ball and causes it to drive to a different direction than its original direction
