Dead Ball

When the cue tip hits the cue ball in a way that transfers the cue ball speed to the object ball

Dead Ball Shot

When a dead ball stroke takes place on a shot; see also kill shot

Diamonds

The markings on the rails of the table used by the billiards players as reference points

Draw Shot

When the cue ball is struck below center and as a result of a back spin returns to the player after contacting an object ball
