Banking lane

The path alongside the side rail, which unless it is blocked would provide the banked ball the perfect path towards the pocket

Beating to the shot

The first chance to score after an exchange of safeties

Big ball position

When a ball is placed close to the cushion, but in a way that causes the cushion to add a bigger margin of error to the shot

Blocker

A ball that lies either between the cue ball and the playable ball or between the playable ball and a pocket

Blood test

When your opponent leaves an especially challenging long shot for you to make

Break serve

when you win the game during your opponent´s break
